In October of 2008, I kept running into a quote about missing some of the best trading days out of a multi-decade time span. I found it silly for a number of reasons. The main one being that from my observations, the strongest stock market rallies tend to happen during large down swings. Odds are, if you miss the best days, you miss a lot of the down side.
