January 26th, 2009 · podcasts

This is our second episode of a special two part travel edition of Millionaire or Bust. We’ll be focusing on how to plan for trips while still trying to stay on track with your goals of building wealth. We’ll give you tips on how to save money or just have the ability to have a better trip with the money you do have.

In this show, we dicsuss ways to budget for and save money on lodging, food, tours and admissions, souvenirs and tipping.

Some links we mentioned on the show were:

We also discussed various insurances that are commonly linked with travel, some ways to save money on them and things to watch out for if you decide to opt out of them.

So, hopefully this two part series helps you plan a trip that fits your budget or is possibly a little nicer than you can normally afford for the same price. Becoming a millionaire is all about making the right choices with your money. For a lot of people, trips can be a very large part of their budget. So, that’s a good place to look at controlling costs without compromising your lifestyle.

Some great tips in this episode. I’ve never stayed in a hostel, either. Don’t think I’d like it. When we went to San Francisco last month, our friends offered to let us stay in their room (they had two beds). But, four adults in one room for three days? That doesn’t sound like much fun to me. Nice of them to offer, though.

I agree Shawno. I wouldn’t want to share a room with another couple for too long either. It is one way to save some money if necessary though. And believe me, for us to do it, it would have to be necessary. It’s just much nicer to have a little privacy.

It was wonderful getting your great ideas and information for planning for some exotic as well as interesting vacations. The way that you budgeted for your vacations was a good way to plan. I didn’t know that you had to budget daily for each person that went on cruises. Great podcast!!!
